새해을 맞으며 드리는 축복의 기도
– 어느 골롬반 선교사
지나간 해는 지친 날개를 접고
시간의 저녁놀 속으로 흘러갑니다.
그 안에 담긴 웃음과 눈물, 그리고 잊힌 일까지도
이제 모두 하느님의 거룩하신 손 안에 모입니다.
새해는 떨리는 빛과 함께 동터 올라
다시 살아 타오르는 희망의 작은 불꽃이 됩니다.
별들을 지어내신 주님,
들숨보다 먼저 숨결 하나하나를 이미 아시는 분께서
새해를 변함없는 사랑으로 관 씌우시고
매일 아침 자비의 옷을 입혀 주십니다.
앞날의 길이 어둡고 희미해 보일지라도
주님께서는 모든 곳을 비추십니다.
지나가는 한순간도 주님께서는 훤히 아시며,
아주 작은 슬픔조차도 놓치지 않으십니다.
떨리는 우리 미래는 주님의 것이며,
주님의 약속은 영원히 참되십니다.
지친 영혼을 새로이 일어서게 하시고
우리가 짊어진 무거운 것이 풀리게 하소서.
상처 입은 마음을 회복해 주시고
방황하는 이는 쉴 곳을 찾게 하소서.
겸손한 영혼에게는
겸손한 영혼에게는
세상이 결코 줄 수 없는 은총을 내려주소서.
새해를 찬미로 시작하게 하시고
감사하는 마음과 높이 올린 빈손으로
주님 앞에 서게 하소서.
저희 시간을 지혜롭게 헤아릴 줄 알게 하시고
저희의 생각이 아니라
주님의 지혜를 구하게 하소서.
주님, 저희가 감히 품는 꿈들을 이끌어 주시고
붙잡고 있는 모든 희망을 당신 뜻 안에서 정돈해 주소서.
용서가 저희의 가장 깊은 관계를 빚게 하시고
진리가 저희 앞에 밝게 빛나
아직 걷지 않은 길까지 비추게 하소서.
자정의 종소리가 울리고
세상이 다시 시작될 때,
저희 입술에 가장 먼저 찬미를 담게 하시고
두려움 있던 자리에
굳건한 믿음 심어 주소서.
오직 주님 안에서 저희는 굳셈을 얻사오니,
이 희망의 새해에 저희에게 복을 내려주소서.

A Benediction for the New Year

The old year folds its weary wings
And drifts into the dusk of time,
Its laughter, tears, forgotten things
Now gathered in God's hands sublime..
A new year dawns with trembling light,
A tender flame of hope reborn;
The Lord who shaped the stars above,
Who knows each breath before it's drawn,
Now crowns the year with steadfast love
And clothes with mercy every dawn.
Though paths ahead seem dark, obscure,
Still You illuminate each place.
For not a moment lies unknown,
Not one small sorrow hid from You;
Our trembling futures are Your own—
Your promises forever true.
Let weary spirits rise anew,
Let every burden be released;
The brokenhearted You restore,
The wanderer finds a resting place;
The humble soul You bless with more
Than all the world could ever trace.
Let this year begin with praise,
With grateful hearts and lifted hands;
Teach us to number well our hours,
To seek Your wisdom, not our own;.
Lord, guide the dreams we dare to name,
And order every hope we hold;
Let forgiveness shape our deepest ties,
Let truth shine clear before our eyes
And light the paths we have yet to tread.
And when the midnight bells have rung,
And all the world begins again,
Let praise be first upon our tongue,
And trust be firm where fears have been.
In You alone we stand made strong:
Bless us, Lord, through this new year.
